Product Description:
Yoga For Inflexible People is for anyone who considers themselves inflexible. The yoga postures developed 5,000 years ago were not created for people who are already flexible, but rather to help inflexible people become more flexible. A wide range of poses are taught and modified to help both beginning and intermediate students experience the benefits of yoga. The modifications includes suggestions for the use of props, which can be either actual yoga props or items you have around the home, such as a belt or books, to assist you when you feel you need additional assistance. Of course if you do not need props, you do not have to use any.
Customized workouts allow you to progress at your own pace and the DVD contains dozens of routines which designed to carefully guide you along your journey into yoga.
When Yoga For Inflexible People was released, the Yoga Journal declared it 'One of the most intelligent and useful presentations served up in a long time' and praised it as a DVD '...for all beginning students whether they are inflexible or flexible.'
Yoga For Inflexible People continued to be commended as the Yoga Journal rated the DVD as one the Top Yoga DVDs ever produced. (December 2006)
Amazon.com: Yoga isn't just for people who are already supple--it's a way to become more flexible. Yoga for Inflexible People presents modifications and props to make traditional poses accessible to people who could not otherwise perform them comfortably or correctly. You get more than 35 workouts and about four hours of instruction and practice in all. Choose a general workout, focus on an area of the body (shoulders, legs, hips, and back), or select a peaceful or energizing workout. Within each category, you have a choice of several different 15- to 75-minute series (some seated), much more variety than most videos offer. Some of the poses are beginning level; others are not. Leader Judi Rice demonstrates well, instructing by voice-over, though her expressionless face lacks warmth and personality. You'll need a yoga mat, blocks (or large books), a long strap or belt, a chair, and blankets. --Joan Price

Rating: - Great
An extensive range of poses, from standing to sitting to bends, and laid out in menus that make it easy to find what you need to work on.
The instruction provides use of props if you need them so you do not have to do physical moves that are too difficult while you learn and is all done at a pace that was easy to follow.
Very worthwhile purchase.
Rating: - Not for beginners
As I am pretty inflexible, I thought this might be a good choice as a beginner but, it was not. They used terms that I was unfamiliar with e.g. open your chest and something about your shoulders that I had no idea what they were talking about. Thankfully, it was only $7.99 as I won't be using it.
Rating: - Worthless
For the beginner, like me, this video is absolutely worthless. You can't even perceive if the model is moving any muscle at all. Instructions go so fast that before catching what's going on, a new instruction comes and you don't understand a thing, let alone trying to mimic the model (which seems static).
I gave two more copies to family and a friend, and they are not so definite about this but probably because I gave it to them.
Maybe not beginners might see it different.

It is just what I expected it to be and I find it very useful
Rating: - Don't Get Bent Out Of Shape
I never had much success with yoga either from books or TV shows; I could not keep up or make the stretches as demonstrated. This DVD is not exciting or fancy but I will say that using this I have made gains and gotten rewards. I realized I am woefully inflexible, but the poses allow for the use of aids (blocks, folded blankets, straps) to go only as far as you can without straining yourself but so that one can still make progress. There is a menu of sessions varying in length and area of concentration (15 minute outer hip vs. 30 minute lower back etc.).
It is not the flashy "5 girls on the beach doing yoga" type DVD. My wife and I sometimes do this together, she being more experienced at yoga finds the routines satisfying and I at my beginner's level can do the same poses with allowance for my inflexibility.
I am glad I purchased this, it allows me to work at my level without hurting myself and improve from there.
