Editorial Review:

Product Description:
Sin and Salvation by Laura Baumbach Ian Flynn, a vampire finds his perfect love in 1823 Victorian England in the form of Trevor Sheffield, a young stage actor. He keeps his true nature a secret from his lover until one Christmas Eve when Trevor is brought to the edge of death by a street gang mugging. Rather than lose the man who helped him discover he still had a soul (and a heart to break), Ian turns Trevor. Afterwards, he spends every Christmas Eve alone, wondering if he committed a selfish act of greed or a selfless act of love eternal. But Trevor won't leave Ian alone this Christmas. A Vampire for Christmas by Sedonia Guillone Christian St. Cyr, a vampire trapped in the nether world between soulless existence and redemption, has sworn not to kill from anger. He feeds only from mercy, which he does when he finds the beautiful man shot and bleeding to death near his home. However, the stranger revives and St. Cyr cannot resist making love to him. Little does he know that the lover who just claimed his heart for eternity is an immortal empath sworn to kill him. The Master's Gift by Kit Tunstall Chris Hanna didn't expect to provide blood and sex for vampire Hugh Klein when he became his assistant. He also didn't plan to fall in love with the other man. And he most definitely didn't think he would end up torn between his new lover and the woman who had captured his heart. He wants both of them, and the magic of Christmas just might make it possible. Publisher's Note: The Bite Before Christmas is an anthology of nontraditional romances. It contains sexual practices that may be offensive to some readers: oral, anal and ménage sex with male/male and male/female sexual contact.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Very Sexy Anthology
Three great gay romance authors combine to bring stories of vampires, love and Christmas. The first story, "Sin & Salvation" by Laura features her trademark smokin' hot sex, a dominant male with a younger more vulnerable parnter, and also a lot of angst. Ian turned Trevor in order to save his life after an attack, but has felt guilty for this "selfish" act ever since. This Christmas he'll get the forgiveness he wants, but that he never really needed.

The second story, "A Vampire for Christmas" is my favorite of the three novellas, and the strongest. Sedonia gives her world more depth, with vampires of different types, telepathy, Immortals, and a slick plot of revenge, kidnapping and, of course, true love. Jesse is an Immortal sent unwillingly to kill Christian St Cyr in order to save his sister. But the plan goes awry and he finds himself at the mercy of St Cyr, and his own feelings. The sex here is great, and the romance simply wonderful.

The final story, "The Master's Gift" was enjoyable, but not as good as the other two. Chris has been hired as Hugh Grant's new assistant. He has everything he could want, a hot girlfriend, a good, well-paying and a place to live. All that changes when he learns Hugh's true nature and gives into his sudden desire for him. But what about his girlfriend? It's Christmas so he'll be getting more than one gift. I too would have preferred this to be strictly M/M, but the story was nicely written and the sex just steamy enough.

Overall, a great anthology. I enjoyed it enough to buy the paperback even though I already had the e-book. Highly recommended!

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Love Laura's Sin and Salvation and enjoy Sedonia's A Vampire for Christmas.
3 vampire stories here. The ones from Laura and Sedonia are M/M while the 3rd one is a M/M/F. I read both M/Ms when this anthology was released as a e-book last December. Have to admit I skipped the 3rd story as I do not favor M/M/F.

I love Laura's Sin and Salvation and still remember Ian's and Trevor's deeply moving story vividly. These 2 characters are very well developed despite this being a short novella. Ian's sin decades ago and both men's salvation on one Christmas eve is emotionally written. Like their manservant, Stuart, too.

Sedonia's story has a more complex plot, featuring vampires and immortals. Lots of interesting characters here besides both protagonists. I would have preferred this story to be novel length as both plot and characters have lots of potential. Lascaux, the father of vampires, may only play a secondary role but he is an intriguing character and I would have loved to know how his triangle relationship with 2 other male vampires came about. Maybe Sedonia will expand on this world of hers.

On a separate note, the publisher Loose-id has lots of great M/Ms and it is frustrating that their offering in print is so limited. I think this is their 2nd M/M in print after the popular "The Tin Star".

Sin and Salvation by Laura Baumbach
Ian is a gentleman vampire: he doesn't kill his preys, only feeds by them, and makes love to them, but doesn't want a companion. He thinks to stay alone with his sin, to be a vampire, and nobody deserve to share his destiny. But then he knows Trevor, young, innocent Trevor, and falls in love. He must have him. He thinks to stay with him for all the human life of Trevor, but Trevor is killed some days later, the Christmas Eve. Too soon. So Ian decides to turn Trevor, and they have an happy immortal life together, but every Christmas Eve, Trevor has a vengeange to take and Ian a sin to expiate. This Christmas Eve will be like all the past?

I love the vampires of Laura Baumbach: even if they live in a contemporary world, I feel a gothic setting. Vampire and Gothic for me is the best! And as always the alpha/beta characters of Laura Baumbach are very exciting.

A Vampire for Christmas by Sedonia Guillone
new vision of the Vampire World! A breed of vampire, the Coer Eternal, who only kill for mercy, and a breed of Immortal people, who slays on vampire. Could two members of these breeds fall in love? It happen in A Vampire for Christmas by Sedonia Guillone, part of The Bite Before Christmas Anthology.

Christian is an half Coer Eternal, an ancient viking vampire, doctor in modern world. He only kills for mercy and he is alone, cause thinking of another loss in his life is too ubearable. But if he could find an immortal, a man to love who never abandone him, then he will be the best lover in the world.

Jesse enters the life of Christian with a goal: to kill him. But the moment he lays his eyes on Christian, only one thing remain in his mind: love. Jesse is an immortal roman vampire slayer, who vows not to kill again a Coer Eternal, but now the price for his promise his the life of his twin sister... What can he do?

I like very much Christian, he is so tender, so strong but gentle. So caring. And his sire, Lascaux... I want to read more about him? Sedonia, do you write something of him?

The Master's Gift by Kit Tunstall
Hugh is a vampire who feeds on sex and blood. If blood is taken during the sex, is much better.

So he employs young men to provide him with secretary's duty, blood and sex. Why men? Cause he doesn't want an emotional involvement, and women tend to associate sex with feelings.

Chris is the last of his employees. But from the very first time they share sex, nothing is as usual. Hugh want more, and Chris also want more. But Chris is also in love with Nessa, a young girl. Could he have both of them?

This is not the first M/M/F romance I read, and sometime this type of threesome is enjoyble (like Menage of Emma Holly and Persuading Jo by Anne Douglas...), but here, I don't like very much Nessa. She is a complaining girl, spoilt and superficial. Between Nessa and Hugh, I have no doubt who Chris should choose, and not only because I'm a woman and like the man!

Filmmaker Robert Zemeckis topped his breakaway hit Romancing the Stone with Back to the Future, a joyous comedy with a dazzling hook: what would it be like to meet your parents in their youth? Billed as a special-effects comedy, the imaginative film (the top box-office smash of 1985) has staying power because of the heart behind Zemeckis and Bob Gale's script. High schooler Marty McFly (Michael J. Fox, during the height of his TV success) is catapulted back to the '50s where he sees his parents in their teens, and accidentally changes the history of how Mom and Dad met. Filled with the humorous ideology of the '50s, filtered through the knowledge of the '80s (actor Ronald Reagan is president, ha!), the film comes off as a Twilight Zone episode written by Preston Sturges. Filled with memorable effects and two wonderfully off-key, perfectly cast performances: Christopher Lloyd as the crazy scientist who builds the time machine (a DeLorean luxury car) and Crispin Glover as Marty's geeky dad. --Doug Thomas

Critics and audiences didn't seem too happy with Back to the Future, Part II, the inventive, perhaps too clever sequel. Director Zemeckis and cast bent over backwards to add layers of time-travel complication, and while it surely exercises the brain it isn't necessarily funny in the same way that its predecessor was. It's well worth a visit, though, just to appreciate the imagination that went into it, particularly in a finale that has Marty watching his own actions from the first film. --Tom Keogh

Shot back-to-back with the second chapter in the trilogy, Back to the Future, Part III is less hectic than that film and has the same sweet spirit of the first, albeit in a whole new setting. This time, Marty ends up in the Old West of 1885, trying to prevent the death of mad scientist Christopher Lloyd at the hands of gunman Buford "Mad Dog" Tannen (Thomas F. Wilson, who had a recurring role as the bully Biff). Director Zemeckis successfully blends exciting special effects with the traditions of a Western and comes up with something original and fun. --Tom Keogh

Set in a frontier world of bonnets and one-room schoolhouses, Love's Enduring Promise follows a headstrong young teacher named Missie (January Jones, Bandits), the daughter of Clark and Marty Davis (Dale Midkiff and Katherine Heigl) from previous prairie romance Love Comes Softly. After Clark injures himself in a woodcutting accident, the family farm is in danger of failing--until a handsome young stranger (Logan Bartholomew) helps out. Missie finds herself drawn to this man, but the intelligence and graciousness of young railroad magnate (Mackenzie Austin, How to Deal) appeals to a side of her that yearns to go beyond the hills and valleys of her childhood. What could be romantic froth becomes a quiet, well-paced, and thoughtful love story, thanks to a solid script, capable performances, and clean direction. Jones is particularly engaging; Missie could have been blandly virtuous, but Jones draws a rich and subtle range of emotions out of her scenes. Religious viewers will appreciate the movie's commitment to wholesome storytelling and clear moral perspective. Love's Enduring Promise, like Love Comes Softly, is based on a novel by Christian writer Janet Oke, though Love's Enduring Promise departs more from its source. --Bret Fetzer

What sounds like the high-concept romantic comedy pitch from hell--widower president falls for smart lobbyist while the world watches--is actually intelligent, charming, touching, and quite funny. Granted, it's wish fulfillment all the way (when was the last time you saw a president who was truly presidential?), but in the capable hands of writer Aaron Sorkin (TV's Sports Night) and director Rob Reiner, The American President is incredibly enjoyable entertainment with quite a few ideas about both romance and the government. Michael Douglas stars as the president, who after three years in office starts thinking about the possibility of dating. When he auspiciously encounters cutthroat environmental lobbyist Sydney Ellen Wade (Annette Bening), sparks begin to crackle and the two begin a tentative but heartfelt romance. Of course, his job gets in the way--their first kiss is interrupted by a Libyan bombing--but darn it if these two kids aren't going to try and make it work! However, they hadn't counted on the president's Republican antagonist (Richard Dreyfuss), who starts carping about family values. The predictable plot--Douglas finally goes to bat for his lady and his country--is leavened by Sorkin's wonderful, snappy dialogue and a light touch from the usually subtle-as-a-sledgehammer Reiner. Both manage to create a believable White House-office atmosphere (with a crack staff including Martin Sheen, Michael J. Fox, Anna Deavere Smith, and Samantha Mathis) as well as a plausible and funny dating scenario. The true success of the movie, though, rides squarely on Douglas and Bening; this is unequivocally Douglas's best comedic performance (ergo his best performance, period) and Bening, usually such a good bad girl, takes a standard career-woman role and fleshes it out magnificently. You can see in an instant why Douglas would fall for her. One of the best unsung romantic comedies of the '90s. --Mark Englehart

The tagline emblazoned across the top of this latest WWF album's cover reads, "All New WWF Superstar Themes That Rock!" And on any compilation where songs by Limp Bizkit and Marilyn Manson are unremarkable for their fast pace and fury, it can be safely said that all of the songs do "rock!" Careful work has gone into matching songs to the performers, and the opportunity to listen to this album outside the context of WWF shows means that a fan can live the fantasy any time he chooses, all day long. Even Vince McMahon's theme strengthens the role he plays in the WWF's plot: Dope's "No Chance" talks in the first person about a stupidly angry boss, and connecting McMahon with this song is smart because everybody hates their boss on some level, and this song only reminds the listener of McMahon's part in the drama. Along with "No Chance," some of the other numbers on Forceable Entry are new covers or remixes of wrestlers' theme songs. Here, this generally means a new version with dirtier guitar work throughout it. This will only bother the listener if he was really attached to the original version of one of the themes, such as Chris Jericho's "Break the Walls Down" (Sevendust), or Undertaker's "Rollin'" (Limp Bizkit). Regardless, if you know the songs played upon the entrance of these wrestlers, then you know which themes you like and which ones you don't--and you know whether or not you need this album. --Mark Huntsman
