Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Fun...fun...fun!
This was a very informative DVD for those who are bicurious/bisexual, lesbian or even a man. Nina showed the steps to please a woman through kissing, touch and oral stimulation. All I can say is wow and I am so glad to have not been the model that she tormented. Tormented! Nina seemed to time her little talks just as the model was getting close to an orgasm. Don't get me wrong, I am glad that Nina explained what she was doing. I throughly enjoyed this DVD.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - OMG - not just for women
Wow! Men and women alike can learn greatly from the techniques Nina teaches in this video. I considered myself somewhat advanced in the sex department, but not so much now. One thinks they know their own body, but Nina showed me even more! One knows what feels good to oneself, but understanding a bit more of the anatomy, the "why's", and the "how to's" helps your partner find those sweet spots everytime. This is a must see for everyone who wants to please a women. This is the best Nina video I have seen yet.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Incredibly sexy! Great instruction, too
This was one of the sexiest (to watch) -- and most educational - videos from Nina Hartley I've seen lately. She appears with another porn actress (as her co-host) - a petite redhead - with whom she makes love to extensively. (Wow!)

The first half of this video was both -- out-of-this-world sexy - with great, real-world advice! Nina explains how the media is awash with girl/girl imagery (from advertising, she claims, without mentioning porn). More practically, she explains how fulfilling one's bi-sexual desires can often times be difficult - since women aren't used to taking the sexual initiative, and since women's libidos are much slower to get aroused (so seeing the changes in a woman's body - and seducing her - are much more difficult).

Her best advice is to not be afraid - and to be honest about one's desires (with another woman). Be up-front, she says -- in what one is seeking - in terms of sex and/or a relationship.

Nina thankfully reassures us that its natural to have same-sex fantasies. And having bi-curious desires - and even fulfilling them - won't make us into lesbians. The way to qualify (test) ourselves - is to understand the extent to which we fantasize about women - and men. So long as we don't imagine ourselves being with women exclusively --- we probably aren't going to become lesbians - just because we ultimately satisfy our desires to be with another babe.

She also admits - that many actresses enjoy being in the porn industry - for the easier access it provides for being intimate with other women (which is a motivation I had always suspected). Women make love to each other in porn - not because its required for a scene - but because its something they truly enjoy (which helped draw them to the profession in the first place). (The implication, of course -- is that if girls in porn enjoy being with themselves - you will too!)

In terms of actual instruction, she suggests that learning to make love to other women - starts off by learning to make love to one's self - through masturbation (which, in itself, is nothing new). She further adds, however, that women together - love to kiss!

She then instructs - and acts out - how to mix kissing and mutual (or self) masturbation as a great way to initiate one's own girl/girl love making (which I thought was fantastic advice - and a set of techniques which I had already used successfully in my own same-sex encounters). I've often wondered why other self-help books or DVD's - hadn't suggested this, as well. Nina, thank you - very much!

In one scene, she sits behind her red-headed partner as they exchange over-the-shoulder kisses - while one or both sets of hands -- explore the redhead's center (or her breasts).

As good as the kissing and mutual stimulation was - the oral sex was even better. Both girls are experts, and it was almost (frustratingly) hilarious to watch them demonstrate - while breaking numerous times -- to explain (verbally) what they're doing. Good oral sex technique, according to Nina, is more of a "sucking" and not just a "licking." She claims that if one can see your tongue while performing oral sex - then you're not really doing it right.

Now, I've never really watched myself giving oral sex to another babe. But I'm not sure if Nina's way - is the only way - to perform cunnilingus. But, in the video -- both Nina and her partner -- seem to be enjoying each other's pleasures, nonetheless.

Unfortunately, the second half of the video was much less entertaining to watch - and much less educational. Nina goes off at length in teaching us how to give our partner - a vaginal massage - which looked more like a laborious gynecological examination to me.

I think that Nina was too intent - in proving that our bodies are as sexually responsive as a man's - which, to me, misses the point.

Because we're more emotional, I think women enjoy the thought of making love to ourselves for both the physical - and the emotional enjoyment -- it will bring. That's what makes girl/girl loving so special.

(Making love to another woman - also makes us feel incredibly sexy. And few things in life are as indulgent - as having another babe giving you oral sex!)

Ladies, if you have same-sex yearnings, "Nina Hartley's Guide to Sex for the Bi Curious Woman" may get you one step closer to fulfillment. Even if it doesn't, it's great fun to watch (for both men and women). Enjoy.

The rolling hills of Tennessee farmland, framed in lovely patchwork quilt patterns, set the stage for Dolly Parton's (of Grand Ol' Opry fame) warm childhood memories. The text comes directly from Parton's autobiographical hit country and western song of the same name. Perhaps the grammar is imperfect, but what C&W song ain't rife with grammatical errors--it's part of the vernacular. The story centers on a poor, but happy and loving, family (yes, they do exist) who find clever ways to deal with their poverty. As winter approaches, Mama sews a coat for her daughter from a box of scraps that someone has given her. Of course her classmates make fun of her for having a coat made of rags. But sticks and stones... "And although we had no money / I was rich as I could be / in my coat of many colors / that Mama made for me." That doesn't mean the child's feelings aren't hurt, or that she didn't feel angry. But the message comes through loud and clear (like Parton's voice): the child's mother has provided her with the strength to deal with other children's jeers, and family love can sometimes be enough to pull a person through.

The trend toward interactive video games—with an emphasis on "active"—is a welcome one for parents and kids alike. Play TV Baseball 3 is an updated version of the earlier version of the virtual reality game, with loads of realistic touches that will have baseball fans jumping off the sidelines and into the game. Simply plug the base into your TV or VCR, pick up the wireless bat, and play ball! Play against a friend or choose from one of 12 teams. Rules are the same as regular baseball, whether you’re at the plate, on the mound, or in the field: swing away for a home run, lay down a bunt to advance base runners, steal a base, strike out the batter with six different pitches (fastball, curve, screwball, slider, splitter, or change up), or field the ball and choose which base runner to throw out—or maybe you’ll turn a double play! Entertaining music and commentary included. Games need never be called on account of rain again! For 1 to 4 players. Six AA batteries required (not included). --Emilie Coulter

This decade-spanning compilation charts the singer-dancer-actress's transformation from rebellious teenager to sexy diva, along the way check-listing major hits like "Nasty," "Miss You Much," "What Have You Done for Me Lately?" and "Rhythm Nation." Two new tracks bookend the set, but even the older material--most of it helmed by writer-producers Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis--holds up remarkably well. --Courtney Kemp

Why is Janet Jackson's Janet the best Michael Jackson album since Thriller and the best Madonna album since..., well, since ever? Perhaps it's because Michael's kid sister is the only one of these three aerobic video stars with enough smarts to realize that sex, hooks, and beats are all that matter in this field of lightweight dance pop. Or perhaps it's because the sexuality Janet radiates through her sweet melodies and hip-tugging grooves is so much more credible than Michael's arrested prepubescence or Madonna's nothing-personal-just-business comeons. After her embarrassing posture as a sociocultural analyst on 1989's Rhythm Nation 1814, Janet has returned to her strength--using her odd mix of girlishness and maturity to make dance numbers about personal relationships ring exceptionally true. Even so, the 75-minute, 27-track Janet doesn't really work as an album; there's too much filler and the between-song transitions quickly grow tiresome. The album is full of killer singles, though, starting with such proven cuts as the extremely slinky "That's the Way Love Goes" and rock-guitar-driven "If," and featuring such future hits as the Prince-like "This Time," the Motown-like "Because of Love," the breathy ballad "Where Are You Now" and the inspired Stax cover, "What'll I Do. --Geoffrey Himes

Picking up where the breakthrough funk-pop of Control left off, Janet Jackson and her production team of Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis laced Rhythm Nation with high-minded references to societal ills--seldom the favored province of dance music, but a daring attempt nonetheless. Songs like "State of the World" and "The Knowledge" follow in the tradition of "free your mind and your ass will follow." Still, aside from the title track, it was the pure pop fare and dance music that stormed the charts: "Escapade," "Love Will Never Do (Without You)," "Alright," and "Come Back to Me" concentrate on the politics of personal relationships, not public policy, while "Black Cat" burns the place down with a fierce burst of hard rock. Rhythm Nation 1814 doesn't necessarily hang together thematically, but it's so chock full of hits, you scarcely notice. --Daniel Durchholz
