![]() Rating: - MorningstarOne hundred years ago a disaster occurred, wiping out the power on earth and sending the humans back into the dark ages and since then the population has fallen further into decline. For every female born, there are at least three males born and anything that threatens the existence of the human race has been outlawed: same-sex relations, suicide and vampirism. David is a vampire hunter known as Morningstar and he has made more kills against the vampires than any other hunter. He is their biggest threat and David thinks of the vampires as his enemies until the day that he is caught by one and left to live. Now if only he can stop thinking about the him. Scott was born before the disaster. He was once a rock star until drugs sent him into a decline. Just as he got his life back on track, he came across a group of vampires and the rest is history. He has spent his life trying to survive, although now he doesn't kill unless it is necessary. Scott decides to find out as much as he can about the human he came across and when he discovers his real identity he is even more determined to meet up with him again. Scott and David come together in one explosive night and both of their worlds are turned around. David has just made a fatal mistake and now he can't look at the vampires in the same way as he did before. When a woman from Scott's past turns up in his territory, Scott needs to figure out what is going on. A war is brewing between the vampires and their hunters and Scott and David are desperate to stay together. They have so much in common despite their differences, but is it possible for the hunter and the hunted to fall in love? Morningstar is simply stunning with its combination of believable characters, intense sex and a fascinating world. Jade Falconer has managed to write a tale that was able to wrap me up in every scene on every page. When I reached the end of Morningstar, I kept staring at the last words, hoping that the story would continue because I loved every minute of it. I loved how Scott and David interacted with each other, desperate to take advantage of every second they could spend together, despite the possibility that they may not have a future together. I can't wait to see what Jade Falconer will introduce next, if Morningstar is any indication of the caliber of her work. Shannon reviewed for Joyfully Reviewed Rating: - A good sci-fiction book with a gay vampire twistI don't read a lot of gay fiction and this was my first gay paranormal romance. I particularly loved the first 1/2 of the book. The world described and the people living in it were fascinating. The second half of the book took a strange turn for me. It became more of a series of sexual situations between our vampire and his lover and another couple. It was a curious drop off in the fabulous story telling in the first half of the novel. Still I would recommend it to lovers of vampires and gay paranormal fiction. Rating: - Fabulous bookI absolutely adore this author. Her fiction is phenomenal. Her plot and characterization are exquisite. The emotions are breathe-takingly real, the attraction charged and the sex is indescribably good. This is a great book, I cannot wait until she has more published! Rating: - Predictable plot...but not the sexPredictable plot. Vampire and human fall in love. Vampire turns his human lover into a vampire to save his life. His lover is now angry that he wasn't left to die. An interesting antagonist was introduced in the form Morgan, an evil, sultry, sexy ex-lover of our vampire,Scott. Morgan was still lusting after Scott, and he went to great lengths to make sure Morgan never knew about Scott's human lover, Daniel(Morningstar).I thought this could provide a variety of possible scenarios with the plot. But they killed her off quickly. From there the story was anti-climactic. The story got more boring for me as Scott and Daniel left the killing to try to start a new life and met and fell in love with another a gay couple of farmers and our vampires learned to become FARMERS! Vampires as Farmers!! How un-sexy! Falconer's sentence structure was annoying to read and incorrect and reminded me grade school level."He went to the basement door, glad to see that no one had been there since he had." Then to add to the predictability, one of the other lovers Chris had to be turned into a vampire to save his life. On the up side--the sex was hot, steamy, erotic and very sexy! Three points for hot and sexy mixed doubles with them all! Rating: - Morningstar by Jade FalconerDaniel is a vampires hunter: he is little and cute, with long black hair and pale skin, and no one seeing him could believe he is the best vampires hunter of all. But it is so. Cause under his pretty look, he is deadly and fast and strong. But not quite like a vampire. And so one night he is cornered by Scott, an old vampire who has managed to survive more than most of the others and who was alive when the world was like we know. Now, in this apocalyptic world, he has long lost the reason to be live and only his inner strenght prevent him to look for the death. But that night maybe he has found that reason again, in the form of a damned pretty man. They are enemies but they are also lovers. Homosexuality is illegal and Daniel is heager for the touch of another man. He can be a submissive in their relationship but he is a very demanding sub. He is hungry for love, a love he has never known. Scott maybe is the strongest of the two in the body, but he is, for me, the weakest in the soul: he is alone, and he has lived when the world was a better place, and so now he is haunted by the memories. He needs the love of Daniel to bear his life. A very passionate tale setting in a gothic world mix with yaoi elements... and with an open ending that leave you eager to read more. |

Marie opens the show with an outdoor rendition of "We Need a Little Christmas" and then moves into the studio where Kirk Cameron arrives on a snowmobile (fresh from rescuing a trio of blonde snow bunnies) to read "The First Christmas Story." Lee Greenwood performs "Christmas to Christmas" and later a duet with Marie. "It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas" is sung by Sally Struthers and daughter with help from the Osmond Boys--six stepping stones ages 4 to 12 who have the senior Osmonds' moves down pat. The adorable award, though, goes to Marie's 5-year-old son, Steven, who performs a rockin' version of "Santa Claus Is Comin' to Town" (clapping on the off-beat nearly the whole song).
Marie has a good, strong voice, but many of the songs are overproduced and melodramatic. This, most likely, is a product of the big, pouffy '80s (her hair and outfits are also bigger-than-life) rather than a reflection of her talents. The closing number, "O Holy Night," sung by Marie alone, is quite lovely. --Dana Van Nest
