![]() Rating: - Marly's ChoiceCade August had taken Marly McCall in when she was just a small child with nowhere else to go. She had become family to he and his brothers Sam and Brock. Now that she was older in college, Cade was feeling more than brotherly toward Marly, and it horrified him because he thought those feelings were wrong. He didn't think she could handle the man he had become. He has darker sexual tastes, and is a complete dominant. There is also another secret he has tried to keep from her, and that is the fact he shares his women with his brothers. Marly had a very difficult childhood suffering untold abuse. She had never felt safe or truly loved until she came to live with Cade, Sam, and Brock. When she was a child she fancied herself in love with Cade, and although she recognized it as a childhood infatuation, she was unprepared for the impact those feelings would have as they changed to unconditional adult love. Marly knew Cade still saw her as a child, and she was determined to entice him so that he saw her for the woman she was. He was not able to resist her for long when she mounted a full assault on him, and before he knew what hit him, friends had turned to lovers. Marly had suffered from nightmares all her life, but since she returned home from college, they had intensified. She didn't understand it, and felt that something was wrong because things were starting to spiral out of control. When she was involved in a motorcycle accident after being forced off the road, Cade knew something was up, and he didn't believe in coincidences. Jack Jennings was once again threatening Marly's safety and sanity. All the August brothers swore they would do anything to protect her. This is a very erotic and sexy read. The August men are all very strong dominant men, but Marly is the one to give them a run for their money. She stands up to them not taking any grief especially from Cade, and it always left me with a smile on my face to see her character written with such backbone. All of them have suffered horrible abuse, and have lived to tell about it. We were not let in on all of the details that have led them down the path they are on, but I assume that will be explained further in the subsequent books. Rating: - Take this Menage story with a grain of saltI must start off by saying that Lora Leigh is my alltime favorite erotic writter. This story is about Marly who has loved Cade for a long time, and when she gets the opportunity to be with him she takes it and everything that is involved in that including his 2 brothers. Yes I agree to a point with others how this series has a bit of creepyness- if that is a word, to it. Ya its hot and sexy to read about more than one man loving on a women, but when the story line goes about in a way that the main character is doing it for the future safety of his mate, then it gets a little weird. Over all I liked this book. I mean, we read these kind of stories for a "get the flames a goin" sexy read. But an erotic story can be just as good as any other ones. Nobody does that better than Ms. Leigh. The tortured alpha hero is definatly hot, and you will get that in this book and this series. Rating: - Overall, an OK readThis was an OK read. The plot was enough to keep me hooked, and the sex was definitely hot. But the characters themselves made me just a bit uncomfortable, since this was about as close to incest as you can get without actually going over the line. Cade is an extremely dark hero, and you never really get the story behind why he & his brothers are the way they are, and Marly is just a bit to much like a spoiled brat for my liking. But, I'm one of those who, once I start a series, good, bad, or ugly, I try really hard to finish it. So, I'm off to Sarah's Seduction, Heather's Gift, and August Heat, hoping feverishly that they improve. Rating: - Simply Nasty!Okay, I don't have a promlem, in general, with the idea of multiple sex partners but this was just nasty. The inexperienced women in this series are constantly being hounded and berated for not immediately laying down and taking it from multiple partners. The premise of this story is ridiculous, the brothers were so abused that they have to screw each others women to show their love? In what universe does that make sense? The only thing this series left me with was a serious case of nausea! I love Ms. Leigh's series with the Breeds but this book has me seriously wondering about her mental health. I honestly don't know if I will even read her Breed series now. This book left me feeling tainted by association. Do yourself a favor and look for a new author! Rating: - Over all??? Left a bad taste in my mouth........threw it out.......I'm gonna keep this one short and sweet......I usually love Ms. Leigh's books and storylines. BUT this one - well - it's in the trash. I got towards the end and was literally disgusted with the way the story twisted. It ended poorly and left me with a bad taste in my mouth. Don't get me wrong ...I'm all for different strokes for different folks but this storyline bordered rape and gave "dom's" a bad name. And then when you think everything's gonna be okay - the lead male "he-man" demands another life altering change of the female lead stating "if you love me - you'll do this one last thing". I have never been more insulted for women all over the world!!! Sorry - I love a good dom/sub storyline but this was ridiculous. I was going to get the other books in the Men of August series....but not now. I'll stick with her other storylines from now on. |

In Michael Jackson's Complete Guide to Single Malt Scotch, devotees of the dram can peruse the latest revised edition of the 1989 work. In 336 pages brimming with maps, photos, and informed overview of factors such as geography and flavor components--even proximity to the sea--Jackson sketches the evolution of Scotch whisky, from the prebottling days, when shopkeepers like Johnnie Walker and the Chivas Brothers would create their own blends for sale, to the late-1960s and 1970s' surge of individual distilleries marketing their own bottlings. Lamentably labeling the former as a time when "orchestrations drowned out the soloists," Jackson provides some sweet sheet music of his own: 294 pages are devoted to an A-to-Z review (including full-color labels and tasting notes) of more than 800 singles from "every Scottish malt distillery that has ever witnessed its product in a bottle." It's the perfect book to take to your local liquor store next time you're trying to navigate the high shelf of Scotland's highlands, lowlands, and islands. You may laugh at Jackson's description of Auchentoshan Select's "oily" nose with "hints of citrus zest" or Aberlour 10-year-old's "mint-toffee" bouquet. But you'll be laughing out of the other side of your haggis when you actually smell them. All the notes are well researched and designed to appeal to Cardhu-carrying connoisseurs, as well as those who'd just like to know more about Bowmore. In his introduction, the author describes a whisky's finish as "a crescendo, followed by a series of echoes. When I leave the bottle, I like to be whistling the tune." Scotch drinkers will find plenty to wet that whistle in Michael Jackson's Complete Guide to Single Malt Scotch. --Tony Mason

![]() Compact and easy, to use the MyFi offers 150 XM satellite channels. |
The MyFi comes with a densely packed carton of accessories, including everything from headphones and antennas to a remote control, belt clips, and separate docking apparatus for integrating the receiver with your home and car stereos.

An illuminated six-line LCD is your gateway to browsing XM's programming. You can browse by station, by category, or (our favorite) by currently playing artist. Thirty channel presets simplify access to your favorites, and a handy memo button stores artist and song data for up to 20 performances you'd like to look into later (or find again on XM).
Any satellite radio system requires a fairly heavy-duty antenna. Accordingly, the MyFi comes with four: one for the home (place it in a south-facing window), one for the car (mount it on the roof or trunk), a clip-on antenna for when you're hoofing it, and a built-in antenna. Our home reception was perfect--we never experienced a single drop out. Car reception was spottier, though still excellent. You just have to get used to the fact that where analog radio gets noisier in areas with poor reception, satellite radio drops out altogether; it's either all there, crystal clear, or all absent. And that's where My XM, MyFi's recording feature, comes in handy.
![]() The MyFi mounts easily in most vehicles. |
My XM lets you record XM programming to MyFi's onboard memory--perfect for time shifting your listening (as with a news program or a scheduled performance on XM Live) or for tuning in when you'll be someplace lacking XM reception (in a canyon, on a subway, in a windowless cubicle, etc.). You can schedule a recording or start and stop recording at any time you wish, and new recordings pick up where you last stopped. But you can't erase anything unless you clear the memory--which means you can't whittle away songs you don't like to retain your favorites. It's also important to remember that when you've filled the unit's memory (128 MB, or 5+ hours of full bitrate XM radio), it'll record over earlier material, starting from the top. During playback, however, My XM lets you skip easily from track to track and even pick from a list of all tracks.
You can configure the MyFi's LCD to scroll stock and sports-score tickers, a great way to keep an eye on important stats. The receiver also features a built-in sleep timer (15 minutes to 1 hour) and an alarm clock (wake to a beep or to XM programming).
What's in the BoxFor car use, you have a choice of mounting options for the vehicle cradle: flush mount, vent mount, or swivel mount. The cradle houses a power jack for a DC vehicle power adapter (included), an antenna input, and an audio output for use with the provided cassette-shell audio adapter. You can use the cassette adapter or the MyFi's built-in wireless FM transmitter, which turns any FM radio into an XM radio. (Audio quality is better using the supplied cassette audio adapter, however. You may also purchase a wired FM adapter, though XM asserts that the cassette adapter sounds better than that, too.)
![]() The Delphi XM MyFi comes complete with all of the accessories needed to enjoy XM anywhere. |
Positioning the car antenna can be inelegant, despite its heavy-duty magnet. You can have it professionally installed or live with an exposed antenna cord, though XM recommends using "existing holes, body grommets, and other wiring channels" rather than closing a door over the cord on a daily basis. The receiver's battery pack proved good for about five hours between charges. The included earbud headphones are neither comfortable nor particularly well made; a nicer set would represent XM's strong sound quality. --Michael Mikesell
