Phillip Neville and Jonathan Overton have been best friends since childhood. When they return to England as veterans of the Napoleonic Wars, they enter the marriage market. It doesn't take long for them both to fall deeply in love with shy, awkward, beautiful Maggie Trueheart. Phillip and Maggie marry, but Phillip and Jonathan do not tell her about the menage a trois marriage the two men hope to have. When Maggie finds out, it takes the persuasive power of both men to convince her that this threesome was meant to be. In the process of helping Maggie discover the sexually aggressive woman inside herself, Phillip and Jonathan realize their love for one another is more than friendship. Before the two men can consummate their relationship, however, a brutal attack on Maggie and Jonathan's self-recriminations drive the lovers apart. It will take all the love and determination the three possess to achieve their happily ever after. Related Items: Average Rating:
![]() Rating: - Good read a little formulaicI really loved the first book in the series and this second one didn't dissapoint! Very sexy and hot! It was fun to follow the characters through the book, and interesting to see their reactions. What was not so fun was that pieces of the story seemed to be almost seperate, like they didn't really fit but were there anyhow. All in all a EXCELLENT read and I look forward to seeing more! Rating: - Love Under Seige (Brothers in arms book 2)I liked "Courage to love" a bit better then thus one. Kenneth and Jonathon seem to be little more into each other than Maggie. Jonathon, I felt feels more for Maggie then Kenneth who was the one chosen to marry her. To me she sort of falls in love with Jonathon in the story but Kenneth who has feelings for Maggie seems to have more feelings for Jonathon. It is still a hot erotic m/m/f romance. Rating: - Naughty, but not nice...As a reader who reads more romance novels than erotic ones, I guess I had too many romantic expectations (so to speak) about this book. The near-constant sex scenes, which I think actually become boringly repetitious, are about the only thing that are holding this story together. The story certainly isn't held together by carefully developed characters, or, more disappointingly, by the author's building up a reader's sympathy and interest for/in these characters. From the first, I was a little put off by Phillip & Jonathan's blatant plotting to bring the innocent Maggie into their threesome (although a twosome is what they really want, even though they don't want to admit it to themselves at first). Maggie struck me as being a very unoriginal, blah heroine. Once she overcomes her hesitations (which are given the shortest possible shrift) she's just kind of -- there, taking whatever Phillip or Jonathan (or both) are dishing out to her. And then she's put into an almost obligatory danger-of-rape scene from a stalker/creep character, who's going to spoil the naughty menage if Phillip and Jonathan don't get rid of him first. Finally, but most importantly from my POV, I could never believe that (despite their constant protestations of it) these characters ever felt any love for each other. OK, perhaps expecting "love" between characters is the wrong sort of expectation for someone reading an erotic novel to have. But heck, Anais Nin has managed to convince me that her characters had love for each other, when she wanted to and it suited her material. Should I expect less of Samantha Kane? Rating: - read one read alli was so happy when these two books finally came out in print. i just had to get them.i was kind of disappionted after reading the first one even more so when i read the next one, firstly they both read alike, the same plot, same sequence, same ending.i love a good menage a trois relationship that has depth these books lack this.not great but okay books Rating: - Very Similar to First BookI enjoyed this book almost as much as The Courage to Love. My only comment would be how similar all the relationships were to the first book and all the plot points. It felt as though I had already read it and fortunately I enjoyed the first so the second may have been predictable but still enjoyable for what it is. It seemed like there was a set up for more books about same in the future? |
