Now, renowned author Robin Schone explores one of her most talked-about characters in a novel that reveals the blackest secrets of a man's soul...and the explosive heart of a woman's desire. The Art Of Seduction Destitute and terrorized by a nameless pursuer, thirty-four-year-old Victoria Childers has only one thing of value left--her innocence. Its price will buy her safety. But Gabriel, the dangerously beautiful man who purchases her, doesn't want her virginity--he wants the man who stalks her. Trapped together in a house where every desire can be fulfilled, Victoria and Gabriel are plunged into a deadly game of passion and pursuit, where the greatest threat is carnal hunger and the only rule is survival. It features themes that challenge your value system and force you to ask yourself if you can have compassion for the main character: homosexuality, murder, prostitution, sexual abuse, loneliness, tactile deprivation, etc. While I grappled with these issues, the mystery and suspense in the story grabbed my undivided attention. When Gabriel's brokenness (resulting from being raped and brutalized by 2 men) intersects with Victoria's plunge into desperate poverty, along with her ongoing emotional and tactile deprivation coupled with a yearning for sexual satisfaction stoked by erotic letters being sent to her by a mystery man, they begin to seek solace in one another while Gabriel is wary but his need for love overwhelms his need to protect himself. Victoria's nuturing heart determines to heal Gabriel while she explores her sexuality. Step by step they begin to find intimacy with one another while the "second man" who sent her, Victoria does not know she is a pawn in his game, waits to destroy Gabriel, Michael, and Victoria. All the while Gabriel allows himself some fulfillment, he feels the second man close by though he does not know who he is or where he is. Ms Schone paints Gabriel in such a way that I want him to be healed, wanted, loved, and cherished. Since he did not know his parents, didn't even have a name, and was deprived of basic necessities as a child, his life choices stem from the need for survival. The small part of him that yearns for a life of hope and love calls out to the reader. No matter how bad his start in life and how poor some of his choices, he didn't deserve to be chained and raped. He has helped so many other desperate people find a decent life, it seems only fair that his years to come should be filled with love and affection. The untouchable angel has built a wall to keep others from inflicting more hurt on him, but he found himself in a cold place and took a chance to find love. He and Victoria both need the warmth of love. Schone illuminates the impact of deprivation and evil. She also hilights the healing properties of love. Well worth the read time and again. Rating: - So much like the first book I felt I was having a Deja VuI like the Authors writing style and enjoyed this book but felt so many lines were literally word for word repeated from The Lover I felt I had already read it. I found the motivating factors that moved the characters through the story hard to believe. The only thing I will say that differs from the first book was the "Angels" sexual disfunctions and Gabriels inability to allow himself to be touched. This made for some different erotic situations. I am glad I read it although it wouldn't be at the top of my list to recommend. Rating: - I Loved it!It has been A while since I've read this book but it is one that is not easily forgotten. I was wary at first because I didn't know if I would be able to understand or appreciate the relationship between Gabriel and Michael. I quickly overcame that wariness. Michael is the man that Gabriel grew up with on the streets when they were orphans. They were both forced to become prostitutes. Gabriel was A prostitute for the men and Michael was one for the women. Gabriel has since become A wealthy man and has given up prostitution and sex altogether .The relationship between the two friends became estranged when Gabriel was kidnapped and raped by A man who looked like Michael, and Gabriel was forced to enjoy it. Gabriel feels shame and anger at what has happened to him. His feelings towards Michael is bordering on hate and hero worship. All he could think about is revenge. Victoria goes to his brothel to sell her virginity because she is destitute. Gabriel see's it as an opportunity to draw his enemies to him. He never thought that she would end up healing, and loving A man like him, or that he could open his heart enough to fall in love himself. My wary feelings on reading this book totally disappeared after reading the first few pages. I was hooked and could not put the book down for A second. When I found out more about Gabriel and Michael's relationship I understood why Gabriel felt the way he did about Michael. Any apprehension that I felt about their relationship was washed away when I saw how Victoria was healing him from all his demons. This book was extremely entertaining! I loved every minute of it! I only wish that the hero was A little bit younger [he was 40] and that it had A more conventional ending. Give this book A chance, you won't be disappointed! By the way, the love scenes were great! Rating: - Will blow your mind AWAYMost people will focus on the sexually explicit parts of the book, as to why you should read this. Yes, those parts are really great, but that's not what the book is about. It's about redemption. What do you do when you look in the morrior and don't recongize your own face? What do you do when all hope in finding one person who will understand the depths that a person will do just to survive is gone? Most people think there was a sexual relatonship between Gabriel and Michael. I completely disagree. They have a bond, that goes beyond any friendship. That is what the book helps us to understand. A bond that in true essence is so pure, but extremely fragile. Someone beyond evil has taken their relatonship and twisted and contorted it to make is seem unclean. Read it. You'll love it Rating: - TOP NOTCH EROTIC THRILLER!If you're looking for a sweet romance, this is not it. I didn't think any book could have a more emotional ending than the Lover or Outlander. Was i ever wrong! Gabriel's Woman was so gut-wrenching that I had to stop reading several times. But it's even better than the Lover. It's about Michael's friend Gabriel and it also continues Michael's and Anne's story (from the Lover) and tells you what happened to them. It had some really horrifying parts, though. I'd call it an erotic thriller rather than a romance. The sex is very graphic and hot, wet, grunting sweating sex, not the romanticized kind you often find in romance novels. You'll find no polite euphemisms here. If you are highly sensitive or easily offended you probably won't like it. But it really plays on the emotions and if you liked the Lover I think you'll love Gabriel's Woman. What I found particularly touching was the friendship between the two men Michael and Gabriel and how they are willing to lay down their lives for each other. Since this is the story of Gabriel trying to track down and kill his rapist, there are also some disturbing descriptions of male rape as well as some rather grisly violence. Overall, it was disturbing, touching, emotional and very very good. Not for the faint of heart, though. The descriptions of sex are very realistic and graphic and there is considerable violence, some of it graphic and grisly. A real emotional roller-coaster ride. |
Sales of semiconductors in November indicate that consumer products such as LCD (liquid crystal display) TVs, digital music players, and other devices sold well during the holidays, the Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA) said Monday.
November chip sales rose 2.3 percent year-on-year to $23.1 billion, the SIA said.
Unit demand has far outpaced last year. But falling chip prices have hurt industry revenue, the chip association said. For example, DRAM (dynamic RAM) bit shipments grew 25 percent in the three months through mid-December, but average selling prices have declined 20 percent over the same period.
The association also noted that rising energy prices and concerns about the sub-prime lending issue in the U.S. do not appear to have had a significant impact on consumer spending for the holidays, the SIA said. The group reiterated its forecast that worldwide semiconductor sales will reach a new record in 2007. But it will take a stronger than expected December selling season to reach the 3.8 percent growth goal the group had forecast earlier this year, the SIA said.
Investment banking firm Credit Suisse was not as optimistic as the SIA.
The November data was below normal seasonal trends, noted analyst John Pitzer, in a report on Monday. Even if December reaches its normal seasonal growth, 2007 industry revenue will only reach $255.7 billion, up 3.2 percent over last year. The growth percentage would fall short of the SIA's 3.8 percent target.
The slow November prompted Credit Suisse to lower its 2008 chip industry revenue forecast to 9.4 percent year-on-year growth, down from a previous target of 13 percent.
